The Musketeer definitely deserves the points on this one, but I'm going to help to reinforce what he said in a bit of an easy-to-understand way. GHz means giga-hertz. A hert(z?) is a measurement of cycles per second. So the reason GHz doesn't accurately measure performance across completely different CPUs is because it only measures how quickly it runs through its cycles; it has nothing to do with what the actual cycles are and what each one of them can do.
