I know that it is Christian to want to help,but how do I not be unChristian when I say I don't want help?

Don't get me wrong, I really appreciate the help I get when I ask; my problem is that some try to help me unsolicited and it ends up being a problem..I am multiply handicapped, but I can do things, lots of things and just for once I would like to talk to someone about anything else but my handicaps and what they can do for me. A Catholic preist advised that I needed to ask God for the grace to allow others to serve me - but maybe that's just not me.
