My husband has been almost delirious for a week now...?

he has been talking about things that make no sense, and he thinks that people are out to hurt him, he has never had any mental problems before, we took him to the Dr. today and they have him in the hospital now, talking about locking him up for inpatient care, something about a nervous breakdown, whay? i have never heard of him doing anything like this, i have took the kids and came to my parents house, safety for one. am i wrong for leaving at a time like this? his parents are with him, he's not alone......
