Do you think Pencil Skirts are appropriate wear to work or school?

I saw the cutest pencil skirt @ H&M the other day and I'm gonna buy, it came in Black and grey and I want it in Black. I fits' me just right. I want to wear it with a top with dolman sleeves, a kimono top, or a on up top.The problem is my body. I'm 5'4 and I have an hourgl figure I have big and a big . Do you think it will look too y for school or work?
