Is it ok to stop takin paxil?

I was on paxil for about 4 months when i decided to stop taking it. It was not really helpin me much with my anxiety. Is it ok that i stoppeed takin it without talkin to my doctor first? I'm goin to see him on monday but either way i'm not going back on paxil so i figured why continue to take it if i'm just going to get off of it soon anyways. I've been off of it for about 2 weeks now. My doctor said that it is ok if i wanted to stop takin it or change to a different pill. Did anyone eles who was on paxil stop takin it without talkin to your doctor? what was that like?
