The best place to live in Uppr Michigan?

We'd like to move to the UP but can't decide if we want to live in town or in a more remote area with more acreage. We'd like to know more about the UP and what we would need to consider in buying a home for ourselves and 2 kids. We have lived in the country before, but not in that area. Is Marquette a good place to live? Sault Ste. Marie? Mackinaw area? Or more northern and western? Any info that Yoopers might have would be greatly appreciated.
