What are the steps into working as a nurse in england/UK from a foreign country?

I'm afraid you will find it much harder to get a nursing job in UK now, we seem to be cutting back on accepting Philippine nurses, I don't really understand why! but I do know that we are about to face mive unemployment here in the UK because of this recession.
